How to Compare Interior Quotations Before Paying an Advance
Most homeowners compare interior quotations by the final number. But two quotes for the same home are rarely quoting the same thing. Before you compare prices, you need to compare scope.
Why quotes for the same home vary so much
Differences usually come from what is included, the materials and hardware specified, the finish levels assumed, and how services such as electrical, false ceiling or painting are handled.
A lower quote can simply mean a smaller scope or different specifications — not necessarily a better deal.
Line up the scope first
Put the quotations side by side, room by room, and check:
- Which rooms and units are included in each quote
- Sizes or running feet / square feet of each unit
- Internal accessories, drawers and shutters
- Services: electrical, ceiling, painting, civil changes
- Design fees, transport, installation and taxes
Then compare specifications
Ask each vendor to name the core material, finish, edge banding and hardware brand for each unit. When specifications are vague, you cannot know what you are paying for.
Check payment milestones and exclusions
Understand how much advance is asked for, what each payment milestone is tied to, and what is explicitly excluded. Exclusions are where later costs often appear.
The goal is clarity, not the lowest number
Once scope and specifications match, the price comparison becomes meaningful. Our live homeowner session walks through this process in detail.
